31 march 2022, Limburg
unexpectedly it came
it came unimaginably
as if the sky was bullied
while the yawning dawn
was still drowsy
as if the sky’s head was in the clouds
abruptly, it occurred
this delayed winter
it occurred briskly
as if it were blood-relative of
the falling petals of pear blossoms
the wet velvet white flakes
this late winter now is crowded
with falling flakes and falling petals
run the business of this tardy winter
white carpeting the ceremony of untimeliness
it came untimely
some walls farther
in a line of infinity
refugee children with their frozen hands
bury their headless dolls
in the red snow
while their parents roam beyond borders
up-hills, unobstructed
in a colourless stillness
winter resumed its literacy in falling flakes and petals
